My name is Lori Crosby, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (Lic #89606). I specialize in helping teenagers with relationship and behavior issues, as well as trauma related to abuse, bullying, grief, divorce, problems with peers, and other stressful life events. Traumatic events in the life of a teenager can lead to anger, acting out behaviors, depression, low self-esteem, substance use, and even self-harm. Left untreated, these problems can persist, even into adulthood. The good news is that help is available!

MFT #89606

My mission is to bring is to bring healing to teenagers through the power of play. As a Registered Play Therapist, I use a scientifically-validated approach called Client-Centered Play Therapy to help teenagers deal with their issues in a less threatening way. Teenagers often find “talk therapy” boring or intrusive, but play therapy engages their creativity and imagination, allowing them to address subjects that they are afraid to talk about or that are even unaware of. Play therapy has been shown to reduce anger, impulsiveness, behavior issues, and emotional distress, while improving teenagers’ relationships with parents, siblings, and peers.

Mental health warning signs for teenagers:

  • Destructive behavior (e.g., setting fires, vandalism)
  • Aggressive behavior (e.g., defiance, fighting)
  • Threatening to run away or running away
  • Withdrawal from friends and family
  • Prefering to be with younger or older kids
  • Persistent fear, nervousness, or sadness
  • Comments expressing desire to harm self or others

If you recognize any of these warning signs, call now to find out how a teenager you love can benefit from play therapy!
